The footpath covered by the falling poplar catkins is like a white felt，

the lotus leaves sticking on the stream surface are like layers of floating green coins.

The young pheasants in the bamboo shoots are hard to find,

the teal ducks on the beach sleep beside their mother.

漫兴（其七）

杜甫（唐）

糁径杨花铺白毡，点溪荷叶叠青钱。

笋根雉子无人见，沙上凫雏傍母眠。

Creative background

This group of quatrains is regarded as the turn of spring and summer in the second year of the Shang Yuan Dynasty (761) of Emperor Suzong of the Tang Dynasty, at that time, Du Fu lived Chengdu Thatched Cottage.

Du Fu is really a great poet, but the fate of artist in old ancient is not great, a politician can be a poet, but a poet can’t be a successful politician, although they are ambitious.
